Robert W. Lithgow, Sr., 63, of Freehold Township died on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Neptune Township and was a lifelong Freehold resident. He was a school crossing guard at the Freehold Intermediate School/Park Avenue School in Freehold Borough. He and his family owned and operated the Coffee Shop on the Square West in Freehold for over ten years. Bob was a former member and secretary of Engine and Hose Company No. 1 of the Freehold Fire Department and served as department secretary for several years. He was a member of the Freehold Firemen’s Exempt Association. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Freehold and was an Eagle Scout. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher Lithgow in 1979 and his mother, Kathryn Lithgow, in 2019; and a granddaughter MacKenzie in 2020. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Lithgow, Jr. and Kasey Lithgow; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer Kara and Dave Sietz and Kristine and Sean Elkins; his father, Fred Lithgow; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott W. and Theresa Lithgow; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Terry McGackin and Nancy and Mark Fernicola; grandchildren, William and Colin, Riley and Alex, and Brett, Madeline, Abigail, and Elijah; and his companion, Elaine Patterson. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
